I meant to do this update immediately after my experience at the convention in Philadelphia; however, the weeks after found me busy and traveling all over. But here it is now! My recap of my week at the NSCAA‘s convention in Philly through pictures. It was a great week where I met some wonderful people that I also got to work with, reconnect with old friends and see what the soccer world is up to today.

From the media room, we were able to watch the exhibit hall come to life. It was pretty cool to check out too! Here’s a photo from some of the evolution:

This image is of the first field session of convention. I was able to check out a bunch of different sessions throughout the week and as always, found them to be really insightful and interesting. One of these days, I hope to attend convention as a coach myself.

I was able to cover the NWSL draft. For those of you counting, this is the third shot at having a women’s professional soccer league. I find it to be very exciting that this league had a public draft. It drew a lot of attention and the room was very much filled to maximum capacity. I’m optimistic that the third time is the charm for women’s soccer.
And now for something totally different! I consumed quite a bit of candy while camped out in the media room. This was one of the pieces I had:

To kick off (no pun intended) my last day at convention, I had the opportunity to meet Kristine Lilly.

Later in the same day of meeting the most capped soccer player in the world, I was able to meet Briana Scurry. Arguably, the best save in US Women’s soccer history was made by this awesome goalkeeper in 1999.

I kept telling my co-workers that “Young Deb” would be losing it at this convention. Not even kidding about that, but I wish I was. I need to give a special shoutout to them for taking the time to meet me. They were all so kind about it even though I imagine their schedules were pretty jam packed and they had a lot on their plate. Thank you! 🙂
Being able to both work and attend this convention was an amazing experience. As a Communications MASTER (never gets old), I was able to see a great company really put what I’ve learned throughout my education to work. I was also able to put what I’ve learned to work too. If you go to my “What I’ve Done” tab, you’ll see some of the tweets and other work I was responsible for during this week.
Special shout out to the NSCAA for having me back!
